Philip Somerville
Philip Somerville was chosen by the Princess as her personal milliner and designed countless hats for her. His obituary in The Sunday Times said of his influence on Princess Diana's fashion sense: "he helped to mold her style "and with it the country's taste in hats".

Teal Straw Hat

The Philip Somerville hat is teal with white accents composed of straw with cotton stripe jacquard band, bow, and trim. The hat has a round dome, a band gathered at the crown, and the bow is fixed at the back. The turned-up wide brim measures five inches at the front and sides while the back has a round shape notch that goes up to the crown base. Diana wore this hat with her teal, white, polka-dot patterned single-breasted blazer dress designed by Catherine Walker.
Diana wore this in March 1989 while at Victoria Station in London with Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles to welcome a state delegation from Nigeria.
